Concept

The New Iceland urban renewal initiative enhances quality of life through a sustainable integration of diverse spaces, including residential, commercial, and public areas.

Located in Kiryat Menachem, along a major light rail route, the project is strategically positioned to strengthen connectivity and accessibility within Jerusalem. Spanning a total of 106,000 sqm dedicated to mixed-use developments, the streets will evolve into vibrant hubs with essential services such as schools and community centers.
The complex includes 600 mixed housing units, including 130 special housing units, alongside 5 dunams of open space featuring community gardens, fostering social renewal and strengthening community bonds. A key element of the design is its deep connection to the surrounding landscape, ensuring both views of Jerusalem’s scenery and a thoughtful approach to open spaces that enhance the urban experience.
Prioritizing sustainability, the project integrates public transport connections and features a design that reflects the character and topography of Jerusalem. The landscape design plays a significant role in the renewal, with open areas carefully planned to provide both community gathering spaces and unobstructed views that preserve and celebrate the city’s unique setting.
As part of our commitment to community preservation, we conducted a resident site tour, mapping significant elements and childhood memories associated with the neighborhood. The stories and insights shared by residents are shaping our vision for maintaining the unique social fabric of the area within the new design.
This collaborative approach—integrating community voices, landscape preservation, and urban connectivity—stands at the heart of our vision for Iceland Urban Renewal, ensuring a balance between innovation, heritage, and quality of life.
